Blizzcon this year was like all the rest, full of upcoming releases and tournaments galore. From the new World of Warcraft expansion to the new character in Overwatch, and even the new Hearthstone Expansion. This year Blizzcon was not only spectacular, but was also filled with copious amounts of new content, and tournaments. Making this one of the most exciting Blizzcon for all Blizzard fans.
Battle For Azeroth:
The new World of Warcraft Expansion was probably the most anticipated and the most exciting reveal at Blizzcon. “Battle for Azeroth”, the new back to roots sort of expansion with lots of content for both PvP and PvE players. With new subraces such as the Nightborne for the Horde and the Void Elves for the Alliance/ But this isn’t the only big thing coming.
More content such as new raids, new dungeons, war-fronts, and a new battleground, is sure to keep players occupied for months. Behind the hype of the new expansion, Blizzard is also set to release legacy servers, also called World of Warcraft Classic. World of Warcraft Classic are servers in which you can play earlier expansions as they were originally, such as the original World of Warcraft game.
Moving on from World of Warcraft, we move to Blizzards’ next game, Overwatch. Which got exactly what it needed. A new map called Blizzard World, which is a Blizzard theme park, and also a new support character, Moira. Moira is a support based character with the ability to damage her foes with magic alchemy and heal her allies with the power of the light. The new map and character have been much anticipated and highly needed to keep the Overwatch hype and player base happy.
Hearthstone didn’t get as much as it could have but it did receive a new expansion. This expansion may not live up to the hype of the Icecrown Citadel expansion before it, featuring Lich King, who is well known throughout the entire Blizzard Universe. The new expansion is called Kobolds and Catacombs
Heroes of the Storm:
HotS didn’t get much in the way of content but did receive a few new playable heroes; Hanzo from Overwatch and Alexstraza from World of Warcraft will be joining the Storm. Other than the new characters, there will be some changes to certain mechanics, map upgrades, and hero changes.
Starcraft and Diablo III:
Starcraft received little to nothing expect soon becoming free to play. Diablo III received no new content, suggesting that they are either focusing on Overwatch and World of Warcraft or that they have something huge to be announced at a later date, either way, they seem to have their priorities straight.
Blizzcon Tournament Results:
In the World of Warcraft Arena finals, ABC beat crowd favored Panda Global to take it all. Fourth year in a row that a European team has won The World of Warcraft Arena Tournament. In Overwatch, South Korea won. In Hearthstone, the Grimstreet Grifters – comprised of Andrey ‘Reynad’ Yanyuk, Hakjun ‘Kranich’ Baek, and Pathra Cadness emerged victoriously.
